It’s been quite a while. Nevertheless, I have been far from silent. Though I must say, silence is a useful tool.

Not Too Long Ago

nature struck Haiti. Now, she strikes closer to home. We are frail and insignificant compared to she whom cries storms and breathes fire. Amid all the chaos however, it is clear that as a people we are capable of caring for our neighbor. It is imperative now more than ever that we be positive and freehearted. I can say little more, for I feel it is not my role. “This too shall pass”-a proverb of the Persian Sufi poets.

Return of the Jedi

Graduation came and went, my summer classes are completed, and I now have a clear goal for my education. First I must finish one more semester of high school though. I’ve not been able to touch a soccer ball for the life of me in over a month. After months of procrastination I’ve finally a job to my name. Reach has been well defended and I have read an unhealthy amount of books.

That being said it’s fairly obvious why yet again I have neglected my site. This blog is at least read by me if not anyone else. Still, time and again I gain a decent following surprisingly and/or somewhat interested in my mind’s eye, only to abruptly stop posting. Though sporadically at best , I wish to continue blogging(truly I find solace in this) until words are no longer fun.

This is me then, picking up where I left off.

Worthwhile Wait?

Simply put, I’m an incompetent failure. I am subconsciously afraid of succeeding and I use way too many commas. Additionally I have a habit of shooting myself in the foot. Graduation looms yet it’s unlikely that I walk that stage with my peers. I’ve nothing else but to regain focus and acquire a greater momentum. Still, for some time an utter desperation consumed me; I’ve moved on now.

Needless to say, in a triumphant effort to finish my online class I’ve slacked on my blog tip. This train is en route again however.

Now it’s practically summer and the people over at dailybeatz put together the second edition of A Blogwave Summer. Enjoy…

This type of mix is great for a couple of reasons. First of all, since the only theme is summer (Technically, I asked each person to send me the song that they thought would be their summer jam this year) and summer means something different to everyone, you’re sure to get a nice and diverse mix of songs. But even more importantly, since I only picked one song on this mix, if you think it sucks, then you can’t really blame me. Isn’t it great how that works? But I don’t think you’ll really have much of a problem with any of the 23 songs on this mix. Yes, that’s right, 23 songs picked by 23 blogs (I’m sure you’ll recognize a good deal of names on the list) all wrapped into one mix that’s just under 65 minutes in length. -Dailybeatz

Just Before the Clock Strikes 12

First and foremost I would like to wish the best of luck to Andrea, Jannice, and the rest of the UIL Academics team that will be traveling to Denton for the regional competition on Saturday. I’ve no doubt that they will be superb.

In other news…there was an awful lot of hype at school today.

Allegedly, one Mark “Loko” Calderon was arrested for something along the lines of “terroristic propaganda”. I’m not entirely sure so don’t quote me on that. The kid attracted too much attention to himself; that I am certain of.

For some time now he had promoted an “unscheduled announcement”, to take place at school via the PA system. My first impression was that this was merely another harmless senior prank. Only through hearing the disdain that Mark expressed for a , Mr. Willoughby, during the next few days did I realize the whole thing would be scandalous. Clearly there is much animosity between the two but my hope is that they can resolve their issues as to not give my peers something else to moan and groan about.

On a lighter but equally serious note, today was the National Day of Silence. I was not familiar with the occasion until today; but from what I gather, it’s a day of action in which students speak out by not speaking. This seems a rather noble cause as they strive to end bullying and harassment of gay, lesbian, and straight individuals alike. To learn more about this cause click on the picture above.

It wasn’t until later in the day when I realized today is the 122nd birthday of the great Charlie Chaplin. I ask myself whether the vow of silence is in any way associated with the king of silent films or if it’s just an odd coincidence.
On that note, I leave you with a video showing that Chaplin was silent not because he didn’t have the right words but because he knew when they were appropriate. This is truly one of my favorite speeches. Enjoy…

For Those of You Who Care About Such Things

I’d say I kicked about 40 freshmen today. I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only jerk kicking (as if that makes it less frowned upon).

In the spirit of this national holiday, some friends and I have decided to start our own tradition. We hereby declare every Tuesday, of this month and the next, a day for doods and ladies alike to sport your button-up shirt with pride.

Additionally, I’ve wanted to promote local bands and artists so if your music is worth listening and you would like some free promotion, contact me.

I didn’t have time to post much today so I leave you all with this. Some grade-A, Antlers, that sounds oddly familiar to something I’ve heard on a Radiohead album. Enjoy

Pause

I realize that the last few posts have been solely about music. This is greatly because 2011 thus far has been a wonderful* year for those who enjoy music (roughly 94% of the world’s population). Still, this is no hype machine or music blog.

This is the part where I thank you all for making yesterday a record-breaking day here at Mago’z World. The most views on a single day for this site was shattered and today we’re pretty close to beating it again. Again, thank you kindly for your time; don’t be afraid to show some love or hate. Your comments and feedback would be greatly appreciated and I will always respond to all of you. Lastly, special thanks are due to Colin, NiNa, and the Brandon Hererra for being the main reason this site has had so much attention these last few days.
